In loving memory of Ms. Linda J. Darby, we come together to honor a life that touched so many hearts. Though Ms. Darby was not a member of our congregation, her presence was deeply felt by all who knew her.
On Friday, August 23, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, we will gather for a viewing and wake to pay our respects and reflect on the cherished moments we shared with her. This time of reflection will be held in the Main Sanctuary of SBC.
The following day, Saturday, August 24, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, we will come together once more for a homegoing celebration, a time to remember and celebrate the beautiful spirit of Ms. Darby. The service will be led by Rev. Gaston Smith of Friendship MBC, who will offer words of comfort, guiding us through scriptures and prayers. The ceremony will be enriched by the voices of his choir and the presence of two award-winning stellar gospel artists, whose songs will lift our spirits as we say our goodbyes.
Following the service, we will proceed to Graceland Cemetery on SW 117th Ave., where Ms. Darby will be laid to rest. Her memory will be eternally cherished, and her legacy will continue to inspire those who knew her.
A repast will be held in the Fellowship Hall from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm, where we will share a meal and offer support to one another as we grieve this profound loss.
The SBC community is humbled to provide support through our ushers, nurses guild, hospitality team, and the technical team for sound and media. A PowerPoint presentation, honoring Ms. Darby’s life, will be displayed during the viewing and as the family enters the church on Saturday.
As we gather to honor Ms. Linda J. Darby, may we find solace in our shared memories and in the comfort of our community. Her spirit will remain with us, a beacon of love and grace that will never be forgotten.
